I have now uploaded my first mysql plugin. This one allows any and all mysql queries.
Currently, attempts to use it with the form version may result in weird behaviour. I have fixed this on my installation by patching the core files. If my suggested patch is not acted on, I will rewrite the plugin slightly (work around comm2func and call the function version directly). The function version, however, works fine. Please let me know if a) There are any problems b) there is anything I could have done better c) you successfully use it for something cool.
