No, it is pretty much gone. For various reasons. The work around is the best approach. Box has become a little smarter (switching between divs and spans freely) and more tightly integrated with other functions like markups html and code. In the process it lost this flexibility. So your options are to use the div instead, or write a custom markup rule that output the equivalent. Not hard, if you know what you want...
