I do not think you can create newvar and check newvar in one go
without using ajax.
Maybe you can skip one step and do all in one expression:
There are [(somefunction arg1={+:id})] words. [if equal
[(somefunction arg1={+:id})] 5]You hit the
jackpot[else]Sorry no jackpot, you only have [(somefunction arg1=
{+:id})] words[if]
