Could you post some markup for me to look at and perhaps what html you would like to see come out.
For pictures, sometimes you can also get the desired affect by simply adding a space after or before the picture. I won't go into all the reasons, but it works. Same with a list of links. I may need to have two different kinds of escapes. One that preserves line spacing and one that doesn't. Might not be that hard but I don't know...
