Hi All! After working more with the new approach to indexing, I have to admit it was not a great idea. First, it is not that much faster--and maybe slower. And second it creates some issues with the index action that I can't easily work around.
So I'm going to re-release version 20 without the changes and update the changelog. If you have already downloaded version 20, you will want to redownload it, and change your site.index page back to the former rules. This release includes another bug fix related to cron indexing. Plus it allows you to specify the index page by adding index=some.page to the rule. And you can include variables in index rules and they'll be processed. So sorry for the inconvenience.
