Hi Jenn. Yes, I can believe a size 6 woman would think she's "fat". I'm sure
size 3 women think it too. "if only I could lose just 5 more lbs." that's
why it's such a big problem, it's so pervasive that no one in immune.

I don't want to single you out, but something you said reminded me of some
things discussed in the book. You said you want to lose weight for "health
reasons" and to be "in shape". Some of the things this book points out is
that being over the "ideal" weight, which is completely unnatural to begin
with, is not necessarily "unhealthy". Absolutely, obesity contributes to
health problems. But I don't think anyone on this list would say a size 10
is "obese". It's all in how we perceive things. I am making lots of
presumptions here, please forgive me, like I said I'm just making a point. I
don't know that you don't have specific health problems that a medical
professional told you would be made better by losing weight. so forgive me
for assuming.

Wow, now I really can't wait to finish this book so I can pass it on to all
of you!

-Lauren

** I'm interested in this bookring, too! :) When I was
younger -- read: before I had my kids -- I was a tiny
size 6! But, thanks to the wonderful media, I actually
believed I was fat! Can you believe that? Size 6? Fat?
Ha!
I am now 4 sizes heavier than that, and can't seem to
lose much. Media still tries to "speak" to my mind
telling me I *have* to lose weight, that I *have* to
be thinner. But, I know that's not true. I want to
lose weight for health-reasons and just to be in
shape, more so than anything else now. :?
