Sheila, I agree with you. Words hurt worse that sticks and stones! When the church that my husband and I were to be married in was being built, my then fianc was working with my father helping with something. Larry told me that my father had made a comment that Larry didn't even know how to use a hammer properly. That stuck with my husband and even to this day, after my father has been dead for almost 4 years, Larry has had a resentment for my father. When I faced my mother with what Dad had said about Larry, she denied that he would have said anything like that. But then, my mother suffered abuse from my father that I did not know about and refused to admit that anything was wrong.

A lot of times I think she doesn't think what she says. But we will never change her. She thinks of what she says is nothing that we are the ones that are too sensitive. What she said to my son was unforgivable. I told her about it and she deined it. She told me she would never have said that to her grandson. But she did I was sitting right next to her. My husband was there too and he heard it. Of all times to say something it was on Christmas. he ran upstairs to his room and would never come out til she was gone. My mother even tried to knock on his door but no response. She didn't know why he was acting that way.
