how about metabolism...it definitely changes when you quit. I also
got tired of feeling like a pariah! Having to always go outside, in
all kinds of weather.......a little nuts if you ask me, yet I did it,
for MANY years too.

to quit. The hardest thing...but the most rewardig. You are right
Lauren, it is a powerful addiction! I am just so happy with myself
that it is gone now. For the most part! I have gained about ten
pounds since then....and I changed my eating habits drastically to
avoid a lot of weight gain. The truth is that for me....I dont care
if I have those extra ten pounds. I would rather have them then that
addiction. Plus, my doctor assured me that if I went back to smoking
that I wouldnt lose that weight. Smoking doesnt make you lose weight.
What happens is that when the nicotine is gone from your system you
start to gain weight. My doctor says that he doesnt think that the
weight gain is just about people eating more to keep themselves busy.
he thinks that there is somethign more to it.
