Rachel,
If someone else hasn't already responded....Gmail is
like yahoo mail except it is offered by Google.  It's
still in the testing phase right now so in order to
get your "free" gmail account someone who already has
gmail has to send you an invitation.  Of course this
makes the lure of having gmail all the more
interesting since it is so "exclusive".  If you don't
live in the SF bay area you probably haven't seen the
clamouring we have here.  Everyone wants it and its
hard to get.

What can I say?  Techie geeks are weird about these
things.
