I read 10 books in December. Some great; some not so great... Alexander/Hill/Joy/McFather. THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS. 11/1996. <C, 12-2004>. LFT. [An/Rom/C/TT/O-Christmas] - I usually am disappointed in anthologies. The stories don't satisfy me because of the length. I did enjoy Victoria Alexander's contribution the most.
Bank, Melissa. THE GIRLS' GUIDE TO HUNTING AND FISHING. 1999. <B, 12-2004>. [General Fiction] - This one was good. It's about a woman named Jane and pretty much her life. Family, work, job, love. I wasn't sure where it would lead to but I found myself pulled into the story and just enjoyed the ride. Cabot, Meg. TEEN IDOL. 8/2004. <B, 12-2004>. [General Fiction/Rom/YA/C] - This one was good. About a girl who is paired up with a famous movie star who is attending her high school undercover to research a role. I really enjoyed the characters and was glad that the movie star wasn't a jerk. Fowler, Karen Joy. THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB. 4/2004. <DNF, 12-2004>. [General Fiction] - I couldn't get into this one. The story kept flip flopping from the past to the present. Gerritsen, Tess. THE APPRENTICE. 8/2002. <B, 12-2004>. [Mys/C/S] - Very good story with lots of suspense and a kick butt ending. This is the sequel to THE SURGEON. Centers around Boston PD Detective Jane Rizzoli and the case she's working on. The villain from THE SURGEON is in this one too. Howard, Linda. KISS ME WHILE I SLEEP. 7/2004. <A, 12-2004>. [Mys/Rom/C/S] - Another awesome offering by Linda Howard. This is about a woman who works as an assassin for the CIA. When she hits someone on her own, the agency sends in someone to bring her in or bring her down. I couldn't put this one down and the ending was a surprise. Highly recommend! Kenyon, Sherrilyn. NIGHT PLAY. 8/2004. <A, 12-2004>. [Rom/C/WW] - Another awesome Dark-Hunter story. This one is about a Were-Hunter named Vane. He is a werewolf who spent his life as a wolf until puberty. The heroine first meets him in his wolf form. I liked that the heroine wasn't super model material. Anyway, he's trying to protect his brother and himself from their pack who wants them dead when he meets the heroine. Levine, Laura. KILLER BLONDE. 2004. <B, 12-2004>. [Mys/Cozy] - The third book in her Jaine Austen mystery series. This book has Jaine working as a ghostwriter for a Beverly Hills socialite. When the socialite ends up dead (electrocuted in her tub with a blowdryer), Jaine finds herself digging around in order to help out the socialite's stepdaughter who is the prime suspect. Enjoyed this one. Snicket, Lemony. THE BAD BEGINNING. 1999. <B, 12-2004>. [Children] - Decided to see what all of the hoopla was about before I see the movie. This was a fast read that introduces the Beaudelaire children (Violet, Klaus and Sunny) and the tragedy that takes their parents and precipitates their move into Count Olaf's home. Count Olaf was downright despicable and I'm curious to see how the children escape his clutches permanently. Recommended. White, Kate. 'TIL DEATH DO US PART. 5/2004. <B, 12-2004>. [Mys/Cozy] - This is the third book in her Bailey Weggins series. Bailey is a true crime writer for a New York magazine. She is contacted by a co-bridesmaid about the deaths of two other bridesmaids. This bridesmaid is concerned that the deaths were intentional and she's afraid she's next. When she ends up dying, Bailey begins to wonder if all of the bridesmaids are targets which would make her next....very enjoyable and I recommend it.
