Hi, Liz, and welcome. Others have already responded about the status codes, but I just wanted to add that not everyone is open to book- trading by mail, and even those that are may have limitations (such as not mailing internationally, or restricted to a fixed book-postage budget, etc). If you find a book that you'd like and its status is "available", that's a good first step, but you should read its journal entries to be sure the book hasn't been spoken for, AND read the profile of the person who set that status to see if they mention willingness to (or reluctance to) trade. If that's all OK, then go ahead and send a Private Message, asking nicely and offering your own trades or postage in return - and you may find you have a new friend... [But don't feel rejected if you don't get a response; some BCers are no longer active, others may simply not have received your email, and still others might be in the middle of a personal crisis and can't respond.] -GoryDetails Books just wanna be FREE!
