The ISBN-lookup problem has been hovering over the site for quite a while, causing the weird meta-garbage in the titles and a slew of other symptoms; here's one thread about it: http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/9/1246405 The fix was being tested on the beta site - but I just heard that the fix has gone live! So everyone should see a few little differences in the ISBN-lookup portion of the book-details page, and with any luck there won't be any more of those pesky garbled book titles.
