Hi, Lupielady, and welcome to BookCrossing! I wouldn't call it a mistake so much as an omission - releasing the book is more important than making the release notes. But you can still make the release notes if you want to; just go to your bookshelf and look at the entry for that book, and you should see a little link called "make release notes" under the title/author information. If you click on that you will be led through the steps of releasing a book, from choosing the location to setting the actual release date. It isn't necessary, but it will add that bit of information to your book's history - and if the book hasn't been found already, the release notes might lead someone to it.
