Meetup.com is not part of bookcrossing.com. They were just a service, a
convenience, for bookcrossers to use. Now that they are charging a fee they
will see a huge number of people going away, IMO.

There are other options: Yahoo Groups for one.

It costs to run a website especially for one with the kind of traffic they
must see. Or did see. ;-)
