All my love and prayers go out to you and your DH, Holly.  Your young
man, like ours, will probably never be able to have the same kinds of
feelings and emotions that we do.  They have just experienced too much
of the "dark side."  However, if we can help them to get an education
and a respectable job that they report to on time each day and fulfill
the responsibilities adequately and marry and raise and support a
family and raise their children in a better atmosphere than they were
raised in, then we have earned a star in our crowns.
