I use group conferencing a lot to communicate with my fellow Distributed Proofreading (DP) volunteers, we use it to coordinate sysadmin across multiple time zones as well as for general chat, but not via Yahoo. We use the Jabber network as it's free, open source, & has gateways to all of the other instant messaging gateways, such as MSN, ICQ, AIM, YIM & IRC. & anyone can create a conference room & gather there.
