Sandra,

Hello and welcome!

| Since I'm new to these parts I was just wondering if ya'll wouldn't
| mind telling me what your favorite books and/or authors are?
|
Personally, I have enjoyed every LaVyrle Spencer book I ever read. She writes
what I call a "meaty romance" -- yeah, it's a romance, but not a bodice-ripper,
and the stories have real depth to them. Even her "not the best thing she ever
wrote" books are pretty darn good.

I haven't read much Elizabeth Berg, but she is also excellent.

If you enjoy gentle meandering stories, try the Mitford books by Jan Karon (_At
Home in Mitford_ is the first one, I think). I _loved_ those. One of the
characters dies later in the series and I cried like a baby (but they're not
generally sad books).

Recently I read and enjoyed _The Persian Pickle Club_ by Sandra Dallas, _The
Secret Life of Bees_ by Sue Monk Kidd, and _Lucky_ (but the author's name
escapes me -- it's a hard book to read but worth it).

For mysteries: I also like the Stephanie Plum series (by Janet Evanovich) and
the A-B-C books (the Kinsey Milhone series by Sue Grafton) a whole lot.

YMMV, of course. Hope this helps!

Mary in Penna.
