HI, You might be interested in the series of books by Ellis Peters called "The Chronicles of Brother Cadfael. They are about an Eighteenth century monk in a Benedictine Abbey in England who solves crimes. He is an herbologist who used to be a crusader knight and became a monk late in life. It has accurate historical background. They go in an order and I collect them. The first one is "A Morbid Taste for Bones". I love them.
