HI,

You might be interested in the series of books by Ellis Peters called "The
Chronicles of Brother Cadfael.  They are about an Eighteenth century monk in
a Benedictine Abbey in England who solves crimes.  He is an herbologist who
used to be a crusader knight and became a monk late in life.  It has
accurate historical background.  They go in an order and I collect them.
The first one is "A Morbid Taste for Bones".  I love them.

would say it was good not one of the best things I've ever read but
