The main thing about starting a bookring is to do it with a book you won't be upset about if you don't get it back. Otherwise you will always be worried when it slows down. If it's a book you are very fond of the only other option is to buy 2 copies. My attitude toward excluding certain BC'er is that I don't really have the time to do all the looking around and as the last poster pointed out, it's not a set in stone guarantee anyway. I sign up all that ask to be on the ring, make up some sort of logical order, put the book in the post and forget about it, at least for awhile. I did have one ray that it had been 2 months since I had any word of it. So I wrote to the person that said they had mailed it on to find out the date they had mailed to see if it might be lost. The person got back to me right away and wouldn't know that the next day the book finally arrived at it's destination. It had been sent surface from UK to Canada and that's just how long it takes. And as the other poster said, if it's not going to be fun for you, don't do it. Personally I like all the organizing stuff, but then I might be a tad on the "different" side.
