FWIW: while there is a BookCemetery (and some of the "eulogies" are
quite funny), I would never submit a LOST book there; somehow
declaring a missing book as dead seems wrong to me. I've seen posts
in the Site Watch forum in which somebody's lost-in-the-mail book
turned up somewhere else, presumably recovered from the lost property
in the post office and auctioned off, so I figure there's always hope
that lost books will return someday.
When one of my books goes missing - and there have been a few - I add
a journal entry explaining this [both for the information of anyone
who's browsing or who may have been waiting for the book, and to
refresh my own memory when I get to wondering whatever happened to
that book], set the status to 'traveling', and leave it.
[Some folks who have posted missing books to the BookCemetery have
said they'll be glad to hold book-resurrections if the books ever
turn up again, but while I am fond of reading about exhumations I'd
still rather not put any of my books in the cemetery unless/until
I've seen their sodden or falling-to-pieces little corpses myself
{grin}. Maybe it's a Fear Of Premature Burial thing!]
