Well, if he has already agreed, that's the tough step out of the way.
Of course you can adjust this to your own desirable level of
involvement, but when I talked to Sally at Stone Soup I told her I would
do everything that needed to be done to get the OBCZ up and going and
that I would look after it. I brought my own small bookcase, made my
own signs, put a few signs in page protectors for her to hang in the
window and took care of setting up the books on the shelf, with
literature and bookmarks. I also assured her that I would prominently
mention Stone Soup on any of my literature. I have a separate BC
bookshelf that has a link to Stone Soup's web page and a write up about
them. I asked anyone that was stopping in because of bookcrossing to
let them know where they heard about the store so that they would see
they were getting something out of it. I gave Sally all my contact
info, (phone, work phone, cell phone, e-mail) in case there was ever
anything she wanted to talk to me about. Any book I release at Stone
Soup has Stone Soups phone number and address in it. You will need to
get a list of hours that the bookshelf will be available and get in
touch with Netstation to list it on his OBCZ site. I gave Sally a
brochure about bookcrossing and explained the basics making sure she
knew that I would take care of anything to do with shelf. Most business
owners are busy enough without having to concern themselves with what is
essentially our hobby. In the beginning I stopped in almost every day,
just to let Sally and Amy and the rest of the staff get to know who I
was (plus I usually bought something). Customers of the store were
asking if they could bring donate their extra books so usually there
would be a box of book for me. I always took anything that anyone
wanted to give me and registered them. I didn't really expect all the
donations I got so it was a good thing I stopped in so often. BTW you
may also want to check out the forum for OBCZ managers to get others
take on how to get the word out, which is a different subject all
together.

Subject: [BookCrossing] Official BookCrossing Zone

Dear all

Hello! I'm a London UK bookcrosser and am very excited because I have
persuaded our local very cool cinema to become an Official BookCrossing
Zone. I am meeting with the guy this week to talk about what it might
involve - any tips from anyone who has done this before?

Liz
