Hi, Lisa! It's really both - that is, there's a recycling center *at* 
the dump (aka "landfill"), and the swap-shop portion of the recycling 
center is where I find the books. There's a covered shed there where 
people leave things, and while the shed can be a bit chaotic and 
sometimes messy (especially if it's been raining or snowing and some 
of the boxes are soggy) it's not quite the same thing as dumpster-
diving - but I figure it's more fun to say "look what I found at the 
dump" {grin}. Definitely worth asking about in your area; if they 
don't already have something like this going on maybe they'll consider 
adding it.
