There are lots of discussions of this in the BC forums, especially Release Techniques and Newbies. While we can imagine lots of reasons why people don't make journal entries (from "no internet access" to "fear of possible sales-pitch entrapment" to "think they have to read the book first and don't read very fast"), it doesn't ease the frustration much. If it's any help, my approximate "catch" rate is running at about 10% - so after more than three years of wild- releasing books, only about 1 in ten has been heard from at all. A few of those have made several hops, which is nice to hear. And while a few were journaled within hours of release, most take days or months before the finder logs them, and a few clocked in after a couple of years.
