well lets see a yahoo auction so lots of people can know which is passing the
writen word or just putting it up so that we bcer that already know about the
site can get the book.
I am more partial to yahoo auction becuase say someone else dose get the
book it dose make the family bigger which means that we will have new people
to trade with or talk to and that is always good.
I do not think selling used books is bad I just think that if you are
collecting the books it is bad. But that dose not seem that is what is going
on so it seems ok with me I do not think that there should be a big concer
when there is good intent ment.

Hi, ladiibbug. I don't quite agree with the premise that any book
that anyone gets from another BCer should be offered only to existing
BCers; I'd rather wild-release such books in hopes of gaining *new*
BCers - that way it's still "in the family", but the family just gets
  larger!

Re the whole books-on-auction discussion: first, there is no rule on
BookCrossing that BC books cannot be sold. Period. It's true that
many BCers prefer that this not happen, either to their own books or
to any other BC books, but (a) it's not possible to prevent it - even
putting "not for resale" all over the book has no legal weight - and
  (b) since most of us love to *buy* books, why should we have a
problem with a BC book winding up for sale - whether it's at a
nominal price such as one-cent-plus-postage-and-handling, or for the
going rate for that title in that condition?

I certainly wouldn't want anyone to go around collecting BC books
solely with the intent of re-selling them (especially if they plan to
avoid journalling the books and/or to de-label them); I think that's
the concern that some people have with any hint of selling BC books,
as there have been a few instances of such behavior. [Given the
condition of many BC books - well-read and often massively labeled -
  I can't imagine they'd re-sell for very much, but that doesn't seem
to have stopped the mass-book-collectors.] But for a book to wind up
in a bookstore at some point in its travels does not seem a bad thing
to me, and for a BCer to offer their own registered BC books for sale
seems perfectly reasonable; BCers who don't care for the practice can
choose not to buy those books, and those who'd love to get hold of a
BC book and who find the price reasonable may be delighted at the
chance. [Since many BCers would not like to learn that the books
they'd sent other BCers were being sold, I'd suggest avoiding this,
or at least asking if the sender minds before trying it - but, again,
there's no rule against it. Once a book has changed hands - assuming
there are no conditions explicitly attached, as in book rings - it is
the property of the new holder to do with as s/he pleases.]

As long as the book remains BC-labeled, it may gather new journal
entries and new BookCrossers, so I'm just glad to see the books keep
moving. But I do try to label them permanently and clearly, and in
several places inside the book, just to be sure that if the label is
lost or {gasp} removed/defaced, the book can still be journaled...
