Andy here, from Middleburg, Virginia. I've been on this list a long time. I used to post a lot more when the list was freer with subject matter. But I'm still here, lurking, and enjoying the book suggestions. I never minded the off-topic stuff and enjoyed the passionate discussions that often resulted.
Someone was asking where to find the list of 100 books you have to read, or some such thing. Someone from this list pointed us to: http://listsofbests.com/ which is good becuase it is a lot of different lists and covers books as well as movies and music. Finally, I'll add that "the classics" covers a lot of territory. If you don't like some of them, I'm sure you'll like something else. I believe that classics are such because they either develop characters in a way that still ring true, or they express the story in incredible language, or they touch a universal theme in some significant way. I agree that children's classics are sometimes more accessible. But, it would be a shame to dismiss something as possible good reading just because it carries a label of classic literature. Now I'll just take my Dickens and go back to my lurking. *-*-*-*-*-*--*-*-*-*-*--*-*-*-*-*--*-*-*-*-*--*-* Read my blog: http://www.livejournal.com/users/figarofigaro1/ NaNoWriMo 2005 Winner: http://www.nanowrimo.org/userinfo.php?uid=17322 *-*-*-*-*-*--*-*-*-*-*--*-*-*-*-*--*-*-*-*-*--*-* __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
