"The Power of One" was a very good book.  I read it several years ago and 
thought it was quite good.  Boxing seemed more of a side issue, though.  I hope 
 you're not put off by my thinking it's also a coming of age book - a boy could 
have been far less motiviated than he was and could have been badly influened 
by so much around him, but in the end, wins out.  Of course, through boxing!
