Over the last few hours there have been a number of odd problems
reported on the BookCrossing site - see this forum post from the
BCSupportTeam for more information (
http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/9/3478807 ). And, since one of the
symptoms is that sometimes the forum posts don't display at all,
here's the text:
"May 6- temporary data base weirdness
If you are like those of us on Support, you probably are finding that
you are missing your profile, your shelf, your journal entries, your
books...
We've notified Ron, but have not yet heard back from him. Hopefully
this means he is working on the problem. (Ironically, Ron's shelf is
missing, too.)
Hang tight-- we'll keep you posted as we find things out.
Edited to add: If you cannot see/read forum replies in a specific
thread in the expanded method (which I prefer), switch to condensed--
the threads (for now) seem to show up there.
It's all a learning process when the DB goes haywire {grin}"
***
In most cases, hitting the "refresh" button a time or two will
display the forum posts and might display the member profiles, etc.,
but we don't know what's causing the problems yet so it is probably
risky to do any data entry or modification on the site just now.
So, for now, I suggest that you use the site with caution if at all -
it's possible that if you try to edit or post anything (extended
profile, journal entries, forum posts) the content might not get into
the database. If you do try editing something you don't want to lose,
save a copy on your PC so you can go back and fix it later. Or just
wait a while and watch for a forum announcement about the status of
the site.
