I love all Maeve Binchy's books, but they're probably more romance. One I read a while ago was very good, but I can't remember the author's name. It was called Midnight in Manhattan and had a little more depth in it than most of them. It's about a struggling actress who has an affair with a married man who is actually her best friend's father! She has some hard lessons to learn before she finds her 'soul mate'. The one I'm reading now is called How Will I Know? by Sheila O'Flanagan. It's very light, relaxing and reasonably well-written, but the story doesn't justify it's length - 600 pages!
