Sounds like something by Tawni O'Dell - Coal Run perhaps. I live in the part of the country she writes about so I have several of her books - haven't read them yet, of course. Susan ________________________________

I read a novel a while back by a woman author whose main character was male (and she wrote him so well! - great "opposite gender" writing) - the plot involved an old coal-mining town turned nearly into a ghost town by a years-old (at the time of the novel) disaster in the mine which killed nearly all of the town's men. The narrator was the son of one of the miners, now rather reclusive. The writing was rich and vibrant and full of individual gems of sentences. I have in mind the author's first name was perhaps Tori or Tami (but not Tami Hoag - she's a different genre), but definitely began with a T. Any ideas? Thanks!
