Weir's childhood.

Despite crippling poverty and over-crowding, there was endless fun - from  
impromptu recitations to the delights of the annual fair.

And dominating her life was Grannie, whose tough, independent spirit gave  
Molly so rich a life in such pitiful surroundings.
