How's your grandson doing? I saved this post from you because I used to teach and do realize that it's difficult to help some boys become better readers, but oh so important. I hope to find more recommendations. Have you found anything that helps?
I write now because my son and I just shared a book called Mostly Michael by Robert Kimmel Smith, which is about a boy who has turned 11 at the beginning of the book and hates to read, but becomes a much better reader, and a better kid, by the end of the book - but it's humorous, like the Ramona Quimby books, not didactic at all. My son liked the book so much he decided his teacher had to put it in the classroom, so I'm sorry I can't send it to you - but it's probably in your library. Just curious, do you have an interlibrary loan system? I took for granted they were universal in the USA, but I recently communicated with someone who said she doesn't have access to one. Maybe they're not as common as I thought, or maybe she's too shy to ask a librarian for help.... Anyway, I'd love to hear what helps reluctant readers. Cheryl --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > grandson.
