October turned out to be a little more productive than previous months.

First up was The Anglophile by Laurie Gwen Shapiro. Rating: 7 *'s

This was a Red Dress Ink book that didn't go quite the way I expected but
still enjoyed it. Started out slow and a little dull but picked up at the
100 page mark where I would normally give up and move on.

I really enjoyed Shari's trip to London and Abbey Road. :o) The supporting
characters were very interesting as well. I thought things were left hanging
with Shari's mother and Owen's father and unfortunately Owen really didn't
develop into a three dimensional character. Shari's Aunt Dot was
entertaining as well as the scenes involving the funeral of the skunk.

Next was Queen Of Babble by Meg Cabot. Rating: 7 *'s

I liked the Lizzie character though she often got herself and other people
around her into trouble because she never knew when to keep her mouth shut.
Too bad that Andrew turned out to be such a dud, but Luke was a definite
improvement.

Next was How To Marry A Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks. Rating: 4
*'s

I started this book pretty sure it was going to be campy and silly and
though I found a lot of the book funny, it quickly started to wear on my
nerves and bordering on the ridiculous. I couldn't suspend any disbelief to
understand why Shanna acts like an idiot. Personally, if I were being chased
by the Russian mob knowing they meant to kill me, the LAST thing I would do
is run away from the safest place around. She just came off as too ditzy and
once she started to irritate me, I couldn't find much else to carry this
story.

Last, but not least was Bookends by Jane Green. Rating: 9 *'s

Fantastic story! I loved all of the characters; thought they were
multi-dimensional and I really cared about what happened to them. I would
have liked more closure at the end with Si and Cath and James. You get the
impression all ends well, but I would have liked to have been told
definitely how it ended instead of assuming.

Not many surprises but definitely worth reading!
