Do you all feel that excited buzz? >. Wish I'd known about it sooner having just >got rid of 3 boxes to local book sale and 3 bags to charity. Argh! I can feel bookcrossers the world over flinching with pain. Books, even dreadful books, are a resource for our favourite entertainment. >Having >moved 3 times over last 3 years we have given away boxes of books just >think if they had all been labelled. If some of them went to friends, you can always ask to borrow them back overnight... >Mind you having said that we have >just discovered 3 boxes we have yet to unpack. I am going to have to be >hard hearted as we have now run out of bookshelf space. <grin> But unpacking forgotten boxes gives you an excuse to say "OH! I remember that one!" and go on a re-reading fest of the better, more enjoyable books from your past. >Wouldn't it be >easier if we all read the same type of books!!!! Yeah, but much more boring. My siblings and I are all bookish people, and we all enjoy each other's choices of books for Christmas and birthdays, but when we tend to buy for each other, we tend to buy books that the other person will find they love, but which they wouldn't have chosen to buy themselves. So it works out very well. Last Christmas, I gave to immediate family members three copies of "Kepler's Witch" and three copies of "Da Vinci - the first Scientist", both of which were books no one else would have bought, but which were so fabulous that I bought them many times over (and will buy again soon to bookcross) and that everyone was fascinated to read. Different tastes make life interesting.
