This book is very interesting. It's about a lady who drives a camel powered bookmobile in Kenya. Running a Camel Bookmobile is a real challenge. This is about the clash of cultures. Some villagers welcome the books but others see the death knell of their ancient traditional ways. I am starting a book-ring to support Books for Africa (not an official name, just a really good idea). Send a PM to Curtis721 if you are interested in getting on the book ring.
Books for Africa I would like to ask everyone who signs on to the book-ring to organize a meet-up in their local area to collect books to send to Africa. I would suggest putting out a donation jar to raise money to cover shipping. Please take pictures and post them in your journal entry with a count of how many books you could send. We would like to give a report to our local WFWP chapter of the cumulative success of this book-ring. My wife and I are supporting schools in Africa through Women's Federation for World Peace. You can see the schools in a slide-show at wfwp.org. Our local chapter has done a book drive in the past for the school in Mozambique. We have a contact in the Los Angeles UN Association who has been able to get free container space from an airline for shipping the books to the schools. If you don't want handle the international postage send me a PM for my address and we will collect the books for a future shipment. These are some of the schools that have been built and run with the support of WFWP.
