Hi.
 
I live in the NYC area. There aren't many used book stores left - in fact,  
one of the biggest recently closed due to high rents (which is why there aren't 
 many - only banks and chain stores seem to be able to afford retail rents  
here)!
 
However, if you do go to the Strand (which is the biggest of used book  
stores - be sure to check out the $1 racks outside), I recommend going to the  
Alabaster Bookshop also, which is one block away on 4th Avenue.
