I have to agree with Karen. There are so many books out there that will never
be journalled. People just don't want to take the time and the books are well
labeled so it can't be missed. I think you might be wasting your time by
putting a note in the books that most likely could be ignored and might send a
wrong impression. Maybe instead of putting a message inside the books, why not
put flyers up around your OBCZ touting the fun aspects of bookcrossing and how
much joy it has brought you and could bring to others? Some of the tag lines
on the web site are quite amusing and could grab someone's attention.

Subject: Re: [BookCrossing] Please, what do you all think?

Cheryl - when I got to the part about how hard you worked.....
I was put off and I would put the book down and walk away.
It would be better to tell them about the "fun" part of bookcrossing.
Follow this book's travels around the world. Meet people like you who love
books, like you.
Give people a reason to join/journal (because it's an adventure, not because
you worked hard).
I've sent books to many BCers to fill their OBCZ's. There are many, many books
I've never heard from again. I sent a box to AnySoldier. Not one of those books
have been journaled.
It's the nature of Bookcrossing. Some make it, some don't.

I've released several hundreds of books to my
OBCZ, and gotten, maybe, a dozen journal entries.
I'm thinking about printing up bookmark-sized
notes to put in the books to remind the finders
to go online. I've enclosed the text below -
please note that the formatting is messed up and
it's actually in just a few long lines. Please
tell me: 1) whether you think the idea of a note
is appropriate at all and 2) whether you can
improve on the text and 3) what I could add to
the text to efficiently remind people that if
they don't have a computer they can go to the
library to go online.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

PLEASE JOURNAL THIS BOOK!
GO TO BOOKCROSSING. COM
& LET ME KNOW YOU¢VE PICKED IT UP, &/or WHAT YOU
THINK OF IT, &/or WHAT YOU¢LL DO WITH IT WHEN
YOU¢RE DONE
Do you realize that I work hard to make sure
there are always books here to share? I love
doing so, and I appreciate the donations of books
that some of you put in here. It¢d be nice,
though, to know sometimes whether it¢s a
registered book crosser, or an anonymous finder,
who picked up a book. Or whether a certain book
was by one of your favorite authors, or was a
serendipitous pleasure. Or whether you¢re
reading the book right away, giving it to a
friend, or putting it on your TBR (to be read)
stack for the future. It¢s quick, easy, and you
can remain anonymous.
THANK YOU!!
