I had this problem with several of her books. The series started so strong,
then it just jumped off the deep end somewhere along the line. Apparently the
publishers noticed this as well. On her latest book it said something about
the author being back to her original form. Unfortunately I've lost my
interest in her books now. Good luck with future reading of Patricia Cornwell!
Have you tried Karin Slaughter? Her books are comparable, but once you get
into them you can't put them down!

I finished reading At Risk today. The positive about this book was
the
plot and part of the story (last half of the book). It was a good, not
great, idea. But...I am not under the impression she wrote this? I've
read 10 or so other books by her and this just isn't the same woman.
I'm contemplating the fact that aliens took over her body and it only
got published because her name is on the cover. Or maybe there were
absolutely NO editors attached to it. There are run on sentences
everywhere...and the writing is sloppy. This is the only book ever
written by Patricia that I have ever had even the slightest problem
with. I got it from the library so I didn't spend anything on it...I
am just disappointed. I am glad it was only 202pgs (hardback edition)
though. It did pick up in the end and it made me pleased the whole
book wasn't a failure but I am still trying to figure out who wrote it
and will there be a sequel? Maybe that one will be written better.
Enough said, for now. What did everyone else think of it?
