G'dday.

Many of you would be aware that one of Australia's great authors, Elizabeth
Jolley, died last year in her early eighties, writing right up to the end
just like the authoress-character in her novel "Miss Peabody's Inheritance".

Although married, Ms Jolley displayed time and again a perceptive interest
in the love between women in her books, ranging from the tender and
romantic, through the unacknowledged as in "The Well", through to the sheer
lesbian sleaziness of of "Miss Peabody's Inheritance".

On ABC-1 next Tuesday night at 10.00, Artscape will feature Elizabeth
Jolley's life and work, and it looks, from the trailers I've seen of it,
like a very interesting show. I'll be sitting up for it. I thought many of
the bookworms amongst up might like to do so too. And may I ask the
webmistresses at Lemonkind and dykepage if they can put up a note
temporarily to let their regulars know of the programme?
