Senseless killings terroize London as the Christmas holiday approaches.
Detectives Knowles and Preston work timelessly to stop the mad murderer who
remains at large in an unknown part of the city. As Knowles' frustration grows,
the reader learns the nameless killer is one of the boarders in an upper-class
romminghouse run by Maude Daneson--but which one? The bizarre killings continue
as Maude's plans for a big Christmas dinner materialize. A murderer in the
vicinity of the roominghouse brings the detectives right to the Christmas table
where all the guests, including a vulerable East Indian student, a Canadian
girl
recovering from a breakdown, and elderly Eva Manning, are suspects. Only as the
twelfth victim is targeted does Knowles learn the idenity of the homicidal
maniac who is about to take another life before his eyes.
