I read 5 books and listened to one for a total of 6 this month: Deadline - Randy Alcorn - D - Just too much packed into the book, you lost track of the main storyline which was the murder of 2 childhood friends.
Gunpowder Green - Laura Childs - B - When a prominent man in the town is to shoot the antique pistol for the winner of the Yacht Race, it explodes and kills him. What is first determined to be an accident is discovered to be murder. Finding Jack - Gareth Crocker - A - There are a lot of unbelievable parts to this book but I loved the storyline. For animal lovers it is a tough read but the relationship between Jack and Fletcher is heartrending. Fletcher volunteers for the Viet Nam war after his wife and daughter are killed. He would prefer to die doing something for the good of his country. One day on patrol, a wounded yellow lab comes out of the brush. The lieutenant wants him shot and Fletcher refuses. An underling is ordered to do it but when the lab survives, the men take him back to base to nurse him back to health. Fletcher and Jack go through many things together and when it's time to pull up stakes and get out, the military considers Jack to be excess military equipment and won't allow him to go home with Fletcher. Knit Two - Kate Jacobs - A - The sequel to "Friday Night Knitting Club". I was dubious about reading this one because I enjoyed the first one so much but I ended up very much enjoying hearing where all the characters were and how they were moving on with their lives. The Other Side of Dark - Joan Lowry Nixon - YA - B- - Stacy wakes up after 4 years in a coma and remembers that she and her mother were shot at their home by a burglar. Stacy doesn't remember who the shooter was but is beginning to remember and her life is in danger. The storyline was good but a bit simplistic. Audio: The Peach Keeper - Sarah Addison Allen - C - I normally love her books but this one lacked the magic that her others have had and didn't hold my interest as much. Maybe the fact that Allen was also battling breast cancer while writing this book was a factor in the writing. My favorite was "Finding Jack" and my least favorite was "Deadline".
