This was my goodreads post for Zone One by Colson Whitehead from a few days ago:
My word of the day is "fustian" which reminded me I had meant to post about this book. This is a zombie novel but with seriously literary pretensions. There were lots of words used which I have never seen before & some quite flowery language at times. I found it enjoyable but sometimes a bit hard to follow as the narrative switched time periods a lot. And for The Beach House by Jane Green Just finished listening to this audiobook. I am only rating it a three as compared to other books in its genre. It was a serious chick lit, beach read, romancey feel good bit of trash, but as such I enjoyed listening to it as I drove the kids around, made dinner, etc. The person who read it was a good reader except she was not good at changing voices as she read bits of dialogue. Because of this it was sometimes difficult to tell who was talking for a second or 2. -- Rachel McCaleb Watts, MSW [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ Have you told a friend today? http://bookcrossing.com/tellafriend Archives and email list settings: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BookCrossing Yahoo!
