Dear Colleagues,
We are expected to have a letter from Brigadier
van der Walt to the effect of ........books with a
cost value of R3000 are to be considered exempt
from the Act and this /*should */be given to us
during the course of next week. He cannot get close
to the Minister of Police to have this ratified but
he doesn't expect resistance in this matter as there
hasn't been an indication of such so far.
The letter will direct your local police force to
Brigadier van der Walt so that he may explain our
situation to them if need be. We may distribute said
letter to the necessary people (either SABDA members
or the entire trade) so that they may have them on
file.
The fact that most of us have not registered is
not expected to be an issue as their media campaign
on the matter failed abysmally.....much to our advantage.
Queries not yet resolved :
Do these exemptions apply to the trade or to SABDA
members ?
Does the R 3000 apply to retail or cost ?
Will we have to register at some point ?
The letter should give us some light on the above
matters.
I know that many of you still have e-mails to
which I have not yet responded. I apologise for this,
I am tackling them slowly.
