Hi Patrick,

you are lucky it's only the power supply because that is easily
replaced. What you need is a switching power supply capable of 12V
(fixed) at 2.5A (or more). The power jack needs to fit the Boom
connector of course, I think it's 5.5mm outside and 2.5mm inside
diameter. Please make 100% sure that the positive is the middle
connector, not the outside one.
The Squeezebox power adapters are nothing special so don't be fooled by
the brand. They are all just rebranded OEM parts from China. There are
better and more reliable ones on the market that you can use just as
well. A general problem with the wall-wart adapters is that they are
chock full of electronics that produce heat inside a sealed enclosure
that won't let the heat escape easily. Sooner or later this causes
components to fail.

Assuming you are in the US (just based on your $37 quote :)), here are
some eBay replacements I found on ebay.com:
item #262674053152: It's a brick like you typically use for notebooks
nowadays. I personally prefer these because they have more space to
distribute heat, and more circuitry to properly filter the output.
Long-term stability also seems better to me. This specific one is 16.99
USD and explicitly fit for Squeezebox Boom devices, so if you want to be
absolutely sure, it's not a bad choice. Otherwise, just search for "12v
2.5a power supply 5.5mm 2.5mm" and make sure the one you buy has a
"center positive" connector. Hard to believe but many sellers don't
mention the polarity. In that case, better choose a different one. The
Boom won't forgive you a reverse polarity or over-voltage so be extra
careful. If you have a voltmeter, it would be a good idea to test first
in any case.
Alternative item: #152436419252. Also a brick but no mention of
Squeezebox which makes it 5 USD cheaper.
There are lots more, also wall-wart style if you prefer that.

If you are not living in the US, you can still use these items for
orientation.

Hope I could help.
Regards,
Joe
