@Grunzi I have set up a blog post on how to replace the display in a Squeezebox Boom. You may use this for disassembly guidance as there are some things to consider. 'http://joes-tech-blog.blogspot.com/2016/06/logitech-squeezebox-boom-vfd-display.html ' (http://joes-tech-blog.blogspot.com/2016/06/logitech-squeezebox-boom-vfd-display.html) The Wi-Fi board is on the backside of the board. Usually it is stuck down firmly with two or three foam pads, and also held in its connector with metal clips on both sides. As there are ICs on the main board, hidden under the foam pads, be extra careful when dealing with the pads.
23892 23893 I usually push the metal clips outwards on both sides so the board can be removed out of the connector. The I pull the Wi-Fi card edge on the other side up with careful force until the foam pads tear up. Make sure the metal clips are not what keeps the Wi-Fi board down, otherwise you might damage them, or even worse, tear the entire connector off the main board. So be sure to check that they are completely open. No worries about the destroyed foam pads then, nobody knows why they considered putting them in that place because the card connector's metal clips hold the board firmly in place and there is no extra need to secure the board. I'd leave it at that and eventually put the board back in without fixing the foam pads. Please let us all know whether removing the Wi-Fi board brought life back into your Boom :) Good luck! And have a nice weekend, everyone!
