That sounds like a good tip.  The method that Philippe referred to is to
spray the parts with a rubberised clear lacquer (see 'this post'
(https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107531-What-to-do-with-a-Boom-with-sticky-front-panel&p=932757&viewfull=1#post932757)
onwards).  One tricky part is getting it clean enough to paint, so I'm
keen to give your method a try.  I recently bought another Boom which
needed a foam surround repair, and it also needs its sticky bits
attending to.  A job for the Christmas break.
