I replied to JoeMuc2009 privately, wherein I thanked him for his kind offer, but could not take it because I live in the USA. I told him of my plan to get some better tools and try some micro-surgery. It took a while and a lot of patience, but I was successful in re-connecting my front panel.
I then proceeded to try the diode fix, and it worked! I plan to post details of the micro-surgery, but I wanted to share the good news as soon as possible. Bed time for me, now.
