Good luck with the thesis! Boostbook tweaks surely can wait, at least the ones
I'm interested at.
Have you had a look at my variable-controlled navigation in the Boost Files section. It offers several parameters that control how the header is rendered, including support for Spirit-style navigation.
The bottom navigation is not controllable yet. I will add this if there is interest. If anyone has any ideas for other parameters, or for having specific layout styles, e.g.
<xsl:param name = "style" select = "'Spirit'"/>
<xsl:param name = "nav.flow"><xsl:choose>
<xsl:when test = "$style = 'Spirit'">Spirit</xsl:when>
<xsl:otherwise>DocBook</xsl:otherwise>
</xsl:choose></xsl:param>so you can control having a specific look by changing one parameter to get a default L&F (Boost, Boost+Spirit, Boost-GettingStarted, standalone, ...).
Regards, Reece
