Well I admit I was abusing code blocks to display regexes and other 
command-line-like information.

I would have expected maybe a warning, but then to go on and display the 
character as it is.  No warning but displaying a # seems like the worst of 
all worlds ?

I was also trying to put a literal ` inside a code block but couldn'y find a 
way to do it.
