I sorry I haven't followed this thread, so maybe you have already discussed
this issue.
Perhaps its even explained in the documentation?.

Anyway,
I just looked through some of the test code in the serialization library.
Much of the classes used 'XX.close()' inside catch-clauses. What is the
rationale for this?
I would have expected 'close()' to happen in the destructor.
