I do hope that fwup can play a role in firmware update. We plan to try
this out with Chrome OS AP update (and VBE).
Absolutely. There has been some work already done with fwupd and LVFS to
make firmware update seamless.
Re disabling the command line, U-Boot has a 'bootsecure' thing in the
devicetree which allows disabling the command line, either in the
build or from a prior stage. If this is generally useful we could add
it to the generic /options node perhaps.
